Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information TechInsights.app ("TechInsights", "we", "us") collects when you use the site, why we collect it, and the real third parties we share it with. We've written it to describe what this site actually does, not a generic template — if something below stops being accurate as the site changes, we'll update this page.

Information we collect

Account information. If you register with an email and password, we store your email address and a securely hashed password (we never store your password itself). If you sign in with Google or GitHub instead, we receive and store the email address that provider shares with us — we don't receive your password for that provider, and we don't see anything else from your Google or GitHub account.

Newsletter subscribers. If you subscribe to our newsletter, we store your email address and a unique unsubscribe link for you, separately from any account — subscribing never requires creating an account.

Content you create. Comments, bookmarks, reading history, prompt submissions, and job or course listings you submit are stored and associated with your account so we can show them back to you and, where relevant, moderate them before they're shown to others.

Payment information. If you buy a featured placement for a job or listing, your payment is processed entirely by Razorpay — we never see or store your card number or other payment details. We store only the order's status (created or paid), its amount, and Razorpay's reference ID for it.

Cookies

We use a small number of cookies: one to remember your light/dark theme choice, and, if you're signed in, two session cookies that keep you logged in (these are set to be inaccessible to page scripts), plus one security cookie that protects the site's forms from cross-site request forgery. We also use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity, described below, which set their own cookies to measure site traffic; Google AdSense sets its own cookies for advertising if it's active on the page you're viewing.

How we use your information

• To create and secure your account, and keep you signed in
• To show you your own bookmarks, reading history, and submissions
• To send the newsletter to subscribers, and transactional email (e.g., a welcome email) to new accounts
• To process featured-placement purchases
• To moderate publicly-submitted content (comments, job postings, course listings) before it goes live
• To measure site traffic and understand which content is actually being read, via Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity

We do not sell your personal information.

Third parties we use

These services process data on our behalf, each under their own privacy policy:

• Razorpay — payment processing for featured job and listing placements
• SendGrid — delivery of the newsletter and account-related emails
• Google / GitHub — if you choose to sign in with either, for authenticating your account
• Google Analytics — measures site traffic (pages viewed, general location, device type); you can opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on
• Microsoft Clarity — records how visitors use the site (clicks, scrolling, heatmaps and session replays) so we can improve it; text you type into forms is masked and never recorded. See Microsoft's privacy statement.
• Google AdSense — displays advertising on the site and may use cookies to personalize ads; you can review or opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ad Settings
• Cloudflare — routes traffic to our servers and provides basic security protection

Data retention and deletion

We keep your account information for as long as your account exists. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in any newsletter email. To request deletion of your account or personal data, contact us using the email below — this isn't yet a self-service feature, so we handle these requests manually.

Children's privacy

TechInsights is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal information, or to object to certain uses of it. Contact us using the email below to exercise any of these rights.

Changes to this policy

If we materially change what we collect or how we use it, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
